From Crisis to Capacity: Big Ideas Fueling Green Politics

Date and Time: Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 4-5:30 PM
Location: 91 E 3rd Street, New York, NY 10003
A new crop of progressive leaders is ascendant who will have the opportunity to advance a climate agenda that meets the current moment and truly works for working people. But these leaders must be backstopped by mass movements and timely policy ideas that will simultaneously provide immediate relief and build towards the climate and economy we deserve.
At NYC Climate Week, From Crisis to Capacity will bring together Democratic congressional candidates, union leadership, and experts from the Climate and Community Institute to dive deep into tactical questions that need to be considered in the coming months. Given the crowded list of priorities for the next governing moment, how do we ensure that climate continues to rise to the top? When and how should we take big policy swings? How do we deliver concrete results and build a mass constituency for a Working Class Climate Agenda? How can movement advocates effectively work with policymakers to drive this agenda forward?
