Salma is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University. She is an interdisciplinary researcher who uses qualitative and quantitative methods to understand the spatial, distributive, and procedural politics of decarbonization in the built environment. Her prior and ongoing research investigates discourses and experiences of household gas-to-electric heating transitions, the politics of rural renewable energy planning, and how fossil fuel infrastructure shapes and is shaped by decarbonization transitions. She completed her PhD in the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley in 2023.
