Isabel Peñaranda

Isabel Peñaranda Currie is a PhD candidate in the Department City and Regional Planning at the University of California – Berkeley. Her research interests focus on the political economy and techno-politics of land, fiscal geographies, and the intersection of housing and climate change. In her prior work and research on the armed conflict in peripheral regions of Colombia, she worked with the Land Restitution Unit, the Truth Commission, and as a professional in the field in diverse post-conflict programs. She holds BA in Anthropology from Columbia University, a Masters in History from La Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and a second masters in Urban and Regional Planning in the Interdisciplinary Centre of Development Studies – CIDER in the Universidad de los Andes. She is also the host and producer of Sur-Urbano, a podcast on Latin American cities.
